Kate Blaine’s experience in BYU College of Nursing is different than the average student. Beyond training to be a nurse, she is also a member of the Army National Guard. She had to balance military training on the weekend with nursing classes during each week and made the most of both!

Navigating life as a college student wasn’t easy for Garett. As a first-generation graduate, he’s had to blaze the trail forward since the moment he began applying to BYU. Despite this step into unfamiliar territory, events in his life have prepared and led him to a fulfilling education in the nursing program.

Ambar Cortez, a recent graduate from BYU College of Nursing shares stories about how her time in clinicals helping a child with Down syndrome and caring for a patient in the ICU shaped her view of nursing and taught her the Healer's art.

In March, a small group of students and faculty spent several days exploring maternal healthcare in Morocco. With the support of anthropology students from BYU and Université Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, they took an ethnographic approach to learning about the clinical resources available to young mothers and newborns.

At one of the busiest and most interactive tables at the recent Discover STEM event at the BYU Wilkinson Student Center, young middle schoolers lined up eager to learn about nursing. Volunteers from the BYU’s Spanish for Nurses Club manned the booth and had scenarios for the visitors to practice.

Recent College of Nursing graduate Kelsey Parker was able to make the most of her time in the program, gaining a love for nursing through the research she conducted and the many tender experiences she had.

Over fifty nursing students attended the Utah Student Nurses' Association (SNA) Convention on Saturday March 1, 2025 at the Wilkinson Student Center on BYU Campus. The event was one of the largest of its kind with around 200 students from across the state attending.

The fourth floor of the Kimball tower was abuzz with students and alumni from the BYU College of Nursing putting diapers, toothpaste, socks, and even soccer balls into kits. These supplies will be sent with the students on their Global & Population Health Nursing Clinical Practicums this coming spring and distributed to the people they will serve.

Calvin Reed fell in love with emergency medicine and emergency preparedness after volunteering as an EMT. His time in BYU College of Nursing gave him opportunities to expound on his passion through orchestrating multiple Mass Casualty Drills, research, etc. As a recent graduate from the program, he is excited to continue and grow a career based in emergency nursing.
