Shalyn Larsen Receives the DAISY Student Award

The College of Nursing at Brigham Young University is partnered with the DAISY Foundation to recognize nursing students and professors who exemplify compassion. The DAISY Foundation was started by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he passed away from complications associated with an autoimmune disease at the age of thirty-three. As a way to give thanks to the compassionate nurses who helped care for Patrick, they established the DAISY Foundation (an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System) to recognize compassionate nurses all around the globe.

After the death of Patrick Barnes at the age of 33 from complications of an autoimmune disease, the Barnes family decided to do something positive to honor him. They established DAISY an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system to thank the nurses who cared for him and to recognize exceptional nurses around the world.

U.S. News Report ranks BYU Nursing

Once again, the College of Nursing at Brigham Young University is ranked among the country's top 100 graduate nursing programs in the U.S. News & World Report's Best Graduate Schools. The 2022 edition became available on March 30. The top-ranking reflects a continued upward trajectory acknowledged by healthcare professionals from across the nation who participated in the peer evaluation survey; BYU earned a score of 3.8 out of 5.
