Preparing to Be Healer’s: Nursing Alumni and Students Assemble Health Kits Together

The fourth floor of the Kimball tower was abuzz with students and alumni from the BYU College of Nursing putting diapers, toothpaste, socks, and even soccer balls into kits. These supplies will be sent with the students on their Global & Population Health Nursing Clinical Practicums this coming spring and distributed to the people they will serve.

Graduate Spotlight: Calvin Reed

Calvin Reed fell in love with emergency medicine and emergency preparedness after volunteering as an EMT. His time in BYU College of Nursing gave him opportunities to expound on his passion through orchestrating multiple Mass Casualty Drills, research, etc. As a recent graduate from the program, he is excited to continue and grow a career based in emergency nursing.

Julia Dushku, a BYU Nursing alumni working at Primary Children’s, found herself assigned to help a patient needing end-of-life care. Since she works as a floating nurse throughout the hospital, she is used to these types of shifts. What she didn’t know was that this experience would be one of the most memorable of her career.
